We believe students should be exposed directly to the scientists and staff at the lab and on the dock. This is a chance to see that a career in science doesn't necessarily mean a coat and tie. It means being fairly independent; wearing what you want, getting wet and using your imagination. This exposure to the broad range of vocations in science is not emphasized in the classroom. For this reason it is not the intent of the program to train teachers, but to have students see first hand what happens in the labs, tank rooms and docks.
